- My buddy, the badass printer/artist Noah Breuer has one of his works on the home page of the Frank Bette Center for the Arts. He’s now getting his MFA at Columbia. If you’re in NYC, go check out his stuff. (Previous post on Noah’s work.)
- Jim Higdon, my Columbia j-school classmate, got a bookdeal with Putnam for his book “The Cornbread Mafia”, the story of how one rural county in Kentucky became a national center of drug-dealing and how it destroyed the community.
- My parents bought a Toyota Prius this weekend, and are looking to sell their Ford Expedition (finally!). It’s looking like I will be learning to drive stick and will take over their Volkswagen Golf.
- Anxious to get back into the freelancing world. Sent out some emails today and am feeling good. Also spoke with Clark Boyd of The World about getting into radio and maybe doing work for the show and/or the podcast.
- Thanks to bookwriting guru Prof. Sam Freedman for sending me two travel books as gifts.
- While at the grand bazaar in Istanbul, I bought a chess set for 15 YTL ($12), bargained down from the opening price of 50 YTL.
- As much as I love traveling, it’s good to come home again.

I have been looking for your friend Jim Higdon’s book “The Cornbread Mafia” to no avail. Has it been published? How can I get a copy?
It’s my understanding that he’s still working on the book. I don’t know a release date yet for it, but I’ll check with him.
Are you a friend of Jim Higdon. I am trying to find a copy of his book: Cornbread Mafia and cannot even using library catalogs around the nation. If you can help me reach him I would be thankful.

I am a friend of Jim’s. As far as I know the book hasn’t been released yet, but I do know that he just finished it recently. My guess is that it will be at least another six months.
Hello, I am also looking for information on Mr. Higdon’s book, The Corn Bread Mafia, to be published by Putnam (as I understand it). If there’s any information on the proposed release date, I would be appreciative if that could be shared. It seems his book is quite popular already, with many people looking forward to reading it. All the best.
