I'm not sure that there's a clear line between Napoleon and racial and religious injustice in France of the latter 20th-century and early 21st century.

The difference between the U.S. and Europoe is that U.S. was founded upon the principles of religious and cultural freedom and tolerance. of course, this allowed religious extremism, class struggles, and racism to run rampant. But, Europe (especially France), with its history of total securalism, can backfire as stifiling cultural and religious individualism. Remember, the French Revolution not only brought democracy and equality, but also the Reign of Terror and Napoleon.

[...] This is an aside titled 'The Baguette Theory of Europe' dated 11/16/08 “To Europeans, America represents creativity, inventiveness, openness, popular culture and at the same time, atrocious poverty and racism bubble to the surface during and after events like Hurricane Katrina of 2005 or the Los Angeles Riots of 1992. Meanwhile, Americans are slowly learning how Europe brushes its inter-ethnic and inter-religious problems with a broad veneer of secularism and the theory that everyone is all the same, or at least should be.” - Cyrus Farivar [...]
