I’ve been in Hartford only a few hours now, after having arrived without any problem at all. I watched some ST:TNG Season 2 while waiting for the plane, and then on the plane until my laptop battery died, and slept the rest of the way. I landed in DC, watched more TNG, got on the plane and slept more.
My aunt Heidi picked me up and brought me to the house in West Hartford. The house is a gorgeous two-story New England house that they’ve lived in for the last few years (before that it was Switzerland). My impressions of New England (or at least Hartford) are that it’s flat and rural.
Heidi tells me that Hartford has a growing Indian, Puerto Rican, and Brazilian population. NYC is in effect this weekend, with Little Senegal (in Harlem) taking priority. Boston will be a 1.5 day trip Monday-Tuesday.
Until Saturday, I’ll be probably mostly be hanging out, doing work, et cetera. I have another thesis chapter due on Friday. At some point I’ll figure out the transportation system and go visit the Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe houses, which are both here.
