Coca-Cola Truck Driver

I’m back in Hartford for the weekend — Heidi returns on Sunday. It’s supposed to drop a ton (read: 1-2 feet) of snow up and down the East Coast this weekend, from Boston to NYC and perhaps further. That should be interesting to say the least. I’m not taking too well to the cold, but over break I did score this really nice coat of my Dad’s from 30 years ago when he lived in England. He’s worn it only a few times since then — strangely, LA doesn’t permit the weather conditions that would be required to pull it off. It’s been keeping me warm quite nicely.

School officially started for me on Thursday, where I had my Radio class. Should be a good group. This is not to be confused with Radio Doc(umentary). Radio is basically how to do NPR-style news radio and about how to do all the components, from mixing to producing to editing to writing to filing from the field.

Our first assignment, from today’s class, was to do a montage/profile of a street corner. I chose 116th/Amsterdam and at first talked to a guy buying an Italian sausage from a cart vendor. When that wasn’t all that thrilling, I ended up chatting with a Puerto Rican guy who drives/unloads Coca-Cola trucks for a living. He was working near the Columbia Law School.
