Never IM in This Town Again!
02:00 AM Jun. 13, 2005 PT by Cyrus Farivar In Hollywood, where everyone’s a freelancer and career networking veers between art and warfare, a new weapon is emerging as champion: instant messaging. Movie producers, directors, actors and crew workers bouncing from one job to the next have traditionally relied on agents and Rolodexes for finding their next gigs. But these days, many are discovering it’s easier to post their job availability on IM. Instead of displaying simple “away from my…

There’s nothing like coming home and being greeted by a little meow and a ball of fur running to greet you 🙂

Pavlov’s Cat: Day 1
So when Baran is curled up and insists on sleeping on my belly or my thigh, it’s very cute. But then I’m reminded of last night, when I quickly was reminded that cats are nocturnal. I tried letting her in my bedroom — bad idea. She jumped on my face and then that was that. I did some research, and discovered this site. This helps: Anytime during the day or evening when you see your cat sleeping – wake him…

World Bankers, Loan Rangers
You know, there are days when the freelancing isn’t going as well as it could, when I think back to my undergrad days as a Political Economy major, and I wonder what my life would have been like had I actually followed through on my college essays. Most of those were about how I wanted to be Secretary-General of the UN, or to work for some big international GO/NGO. I was accepted to the London School of Economics to do…

The nominations are that I’ve found : Atoosah – ˆ-too-SAH (Daughter of Cyrus the Great) – آتوسا Baran – BAA-raan (Rain) – باران

Possible Al Qaeda? In Lodi, Calif.?
NYT: A 23-year-old California man who the F.B.I. said volunteered to kill Americans after he received training at an Al Qaeda camp in Pakistan was arrested today along with his father and two others. Hamid Hayat and his father, Umer Hayat, 45, of Lodi, Calif., were being held on charges of lying to federal authorities because each had denied that Hamid Hayat had attended the training camp for about six months during 2003 and 2004, according to an F.B.I. affidavit.…

Pure insanity.
LA Times: As is almost always the case when the two sides quarrel over a patch of ground, it is known to them by different names. Palestinians call Silwan’s disputed part Al Bustan, or the Garden, evoking the fig and walnut groves for which it was once famous. Israeli authorities have been calling it the King’s Valley, in tribute to the biblical David. The shepherd boy-turned-warrior who ruled around 1000 B.C. is revered for helping unify the kingdom of Israel…

Last I checked, Sather Gate was in Berkeley, not DC
So this is supposed to be the Interns’ Guide to Washington — in the Washington Post — and Sather Gate (at UC Berkeley) is the background? Huh?
