Best thing about Parallels Workstation?
My Gameday Audio (which I paid good money for) finally works on my Mac — well, Engadget’s Mac, to be precise. For the life of me I can’t get it to play natively on my MacBook.

Here’s audio for the first version that I recorded for NPR earlier today. (If for some reason that doesn’t work, try this link.)
This first aired, as far as I’m aware, at 22h00 Eastern today.
There’s a second version airing sometime tonight/early tomorrow.
Comments/suggestions welcome!
So tomorrow I’ll be covering the Apple Special Event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco — but this time for N P FREAKIN R !
That’s right, thanks to my radio instructor Rick Karr from Columbia, I got a call from National Public Radio to cover the event in the absence of Laura Sydell.
Fortunately on Thursday I bought myself a new Marantz PMD660 from Leo’s Audio here in Oakland, so I have my kit rockin’ and rearin’ to go.
So, I’ll probably be on All Things Considered tomorrow, or Morning Edition on Weds. Will keep you posted as the story develops.
Oh, and I just finished my first story for Foreign Policy today! w00t!
DUDE — NPR!
I ran into this problem tonight, but Dan Moren of MacUser had the answer:
Thanks Dans!
This evening, I installed Parallels Desktop to my Mac, enabling me to run Windows XP on my Mac. It’s a weird feeling.
Please buy my iBook, so I can afford a MacBook.
I’ll even throw in a blog-reader discount, if you mention that you saw it here.
Update: That was fast. It’s been sold.
No, I wasn’t imagining things. After 13 months of use, my iBook battery has cycled 279 times, thus reducing its capacity. It now can run on the battery for about one hour. A new battery is about $100 – $120. Damn.
So that reduces the resale value of this iBook when I sell it, whenever the new MacBooks come out.

1) They’re not covered under Apple’s one year hardware warranty.
2) If you ask for open-box AC adapters at any Apple Store, they can be had for $29, instead of $79.
