Bay Bridge under construction
Todd Lappin managed to find some really neat snapshots of the Bay Bridge under construction from a local electrician who moonlights as a photog. I’m a union electrician (Local 6 San Francisco). I’m the guy on the job who will climb anything, anywhere, so I usually get really good jobs. A lot of guys are afraid to climb tower cranes and hang off walls, but I have no fears as of yet (except roaches). I started taking pictures at work…

Bay Bridge Woes
Here’s an awesome photo of my favorite bridge. The Chronicle published it today in conjunction with this piece saying that the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge won’t be done until 2013. Most interesting part comes from the timeline: November 1998: Residents of San Francisco, Oakland, Emeryville and Berkeley vote that passenger rail service should be “part of the redesign of the Bay Bridge” — an advisory measure initiated by Willie Brown. Awesome!

East Bay Express: “Comin’ up,” Deputy Bob Brandt called out to his partner, John McDonnell. He nudged the throttle with his right hand as the August Vollmer, Alameda County’s antiterrorism gunboat, lifted its nose and motored away from its Alameda berth toward the Bay Bridge.
