I like Michael Moore as much as the next guy, but this is too much
Jeez. Integrity, schmintegrity, it seems. Moore admits Disney ‘ban’ was a stunt Less than 24 hours after accusing the Walt Disney Company of pulling the plug on his latest documentary in a blatant attempt at political censorship, the rabble-rousing film-maker Michael Moore has admitted he knew a year ago that Disney had no intention of distributing it. The admission, during an interview with CNN, undermined Moore’s claim that Disney was trying to sabotage the US release of Fahrenheit 911 just…

We’re really in trouble now.
For those of you who hadn’t noticed, Iraq is in rebellion (surprise!) but to me, the more interesting thing is that a lot of big-name Republicans are backing off of this whole ordeal, as the NYT points out in the middle of this story: But in an unwelcome development for the White House, even some right-leaning commentators and political leaders appeared uncomfortable with Mr. Bush’s Iraq policy. Bill O’Reilly, the Fox News commentator who had been one of the most…

Thoughts on Spain
In response to what Aaron had to say about the events in Spain. Does this mean that Al-Qaeda will be possibly incensed enough to try to pull some stunt in November ’04? Possibly. Or in other world elections? Possibly. But even if they do, does that mean that they’re going to advance their goals any further? No. Will they eventually be defeated? Yes. There simply is more military might, and with time on our side, we’ll eventually get them. I…

Why William Saletan Rocks
From foreign to economic to social policy, Bush’s record is a lesson in the limits and perils of conviction. He’s too confident to consult a map. He’s too strong to heed warnings and too steady to turn the wheel when the road bends. He’s too certain to admit error, even after plowing through ditches and telephone poles. He’s too preoccupied with principle to understand that principle isn’t enough. Watching the stars instead of the road, he has wrecked the budget…

“Knock me down one time / I’ll be comin’ back for more”
This one goes out to my buddy Aaron , a fellow John Edwards fan. I propose this song as John Edwards’ new theme song. The phrase “left and right” takes on new meaning when you take it from boxing and put it to politics. Whaddya think? “The Contender” Royal Crown Revue The lights are spinnin’ I gotta get myself up off the floor My head is ringin’ Bet they think I can’t take too much more The crowd is howlin’…

Lazy Saturday
So I’ve been procrastinating today, mostly ignoring my Econ study that I should be doing, reading my classmates’ thesis chapter drafts (to my credit I did one), and have just been messing around online and playing with my blog. Tomorrow I will hit the Econ full-force and am going to the SLC review on Monday. Rachel and I watched You Only Live Twice last night (well, we finished it this morning), which rocked. Ninjas flip out and kill people in…

Kerry Krashing
As I first saw on Aaron’s journal, and then (posted 38 minutes before), on Drezner: Basically there are reports that Kerry had an affair with an intern — and that Gen. Clark knows about it, and that he’s going to endorse Kerry. See the Drezner link for more details.

Do the math
Between September and November 2003, the United States spent $23,148.15 every second in Iraq. Wow. More than what I pay for a year at Berkeley.
