Boyk<\/a> finds it amusing that I keep referring to my glasses as “specs,” so I think I’ll keep it that way. <\/p>\n

I’ve been wearing my new specs for a total of maybe a few hours thus far. First was yesterday, driving from Costco<\/a> to home. Then, today, from home to T-Rex.<\/a> Then from T-Rex to the PFA<\/a>, where I watched Alfie<\/a> with them on, and then just now, driving from the PFA to home. <\/p>\n

My first impressions are that they take some getting used to just having them on. I feel so self-conscious, like someone’s going to make fun of me, or knock me about like in some stereotypical elementary school tale. Of course, everyone so far who’s seen them in person has complimented me on them — I chose them partly because they remind me of my Dad<\/a>‘s.<\/p>\n

Another thing is that every time I’m stopped at an intersection, I find myself pushing them down to test my natural vision against my spec’ed out vision. Not surprisingly, with the glasses on, road signs and distant awnings appear much more distinct than without them. Letters especially have sharper edges and appear crystal clear. I’m amazed that I’ve gone for some period of time (probably years) without being able to see with such precision. <\/p>\n

I haven’t been wearing them at home, as I’m usually doing something at close range, like cooking or being in front of the computer. The doc told me I could wear them at home if I wanted to, but that it wasn’t necessary — they’re better suited for long-range tasks like watching a game\/movie or driving.<\/p>\n
