Greetings from the Hudson Bay CafŽ, a reliable source of WiFi, on the corner of Hudson and College in North Oakland. This will be my new Internet fix until my Internet gets going by next week. Their hot chocolate leaves something to be desired. But this nabe is really fantastic. Pendragon’s and Diesel Books are within walking distance, as is George & Walt’s, a local bar I want to try out.

The house is getting set up, bit by bit. I aim to have it fully operational (ie, with heat and Internet) by the end of next week at the latest. Gas is coming soon, in theory. Internet will be ready by next week. Also got a bit of gardening ahead of me. (Pics are here)
I went to TJs yesterday, for the first time in months. It was amazing. The checkout guy was telling me about a Filipino canned drink called Shandy, which is pineapple juice mixed with beer. Maria, wanna try to make it? It sounds really good, but Boyk was skeptical.
Was great to see Melanie Wong at Jim Leff’s reading at Cody’s last night. He signed my new copy of The Chowhound’s Guide to San Francisco. Boyk and I both have a profile. And Boyk doesn’t recommend getting the pancakes at Ozzie’s (which I disagree with), which is otherwise great.
This puts my book contribution total to three. I’m acknowledged in some way in :
Guide to Getting it On!
Capitalism, God, and a Good Cigar
The Chowhound’s Guide to San Francisco
Also, anyone know anything about buying stoves? I need to check that out, probably this afternoon at Home Depot.
Also, anyone in New York want to buy my bed? I really need to sell it. Soon.
Baseball tonight with Christine. Sweet. Hot Ferry on Bay action. 🙂
