Midnight in Paris

Well, I’m in Paris (again), while transiting from one part of the world to another.

My return trip from Dakar was uneventful, save four boring hours in the Casablanca airport, and being frustrated that their WiFi didn’t work. More accurately, it did work, but for some reason their portal page where they wanted me to pay 100 dirhams ($12 — which I was willing to pay) for one hour’s worth of internet access, told me that Mozilla doesn’t have SSL support, and so I couldn’t use it. Bullshit.

Senegal overall went well, I thought — I made some good contacts and hopefully can get this thing rolling with phone interviews when I get home. I was frustrated at times when I wasn’t able to be as efficient as I wanted to be. Mais, c’est ça l’Afrique.

While Paris isn’t all that romantic for me (I think of it mostly as somewhere where I can hang out with my family, get a hot shower and a good meal before moving on), it’s a good place to come back to, even if for a brief time. I’ll be here until Monday morning, when I hop on a train to London.
