Media Appearance #3
I’m back on “Richmond’s Morning News with Jimmy Barrett” (WRVA 1140 AM Richmond) tomorrow at 8:20 am 7:20 am Eastern to talk about VoIP. I’ll post the MP3 after the interview. Now I sorta know what Paul Boutin feels like. 😉

La Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie
In case there was any doubt, this proves the greatness of San Francisco (via Instapundit). KTVU: PARIS — The United States’ bread-baking skills were crowned superior to those of France and the rest of the world the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie, the World Cup of Baking, held in Paris, France. The 2005 U.S. Bread Bakers Guild team was coached by Didier Rosada and included Jeffrey Yankellow, both of the San Francisco Baking Institute. They beat 11 other countries’…

So I Fell Asleep Watching the Dodgers Game Last Night
I had a dream that Luis Gonzalez was up to bat for the D’Backs against the Dodgers. The D’Backs were already winning 9-0. (When I fell asleep, in real life the D’Backs were winning 3-2 in the 7th. They won the game by the same score.) There was a man on second, and Luis Gonzalez hit a ground-rule double to straightaway center, scoring the other guy, making it 10-0. As he trotted around the bases he raises his arms and…

Macworld Geek Factor Podcast #1
The worldÕs a-buzzing with talk of the next great medium to hit the Internet É the podcast. If youÕve never heard of podcasts, hereÕs the short version: theyÕre downloadable audio files you can listen to on your Mac or your iPod, sort of like radio shows, but you program what you listen to. Berkeley Prof. Was Bluffing
Well, the folks that said that he was bluffing — you were right. The Inquirer: Most techies consider that anyone could see that the Rine was telling porkies. One of the ways that Rine claimed he identified the tea leaf was by installing the same version of Windows on another computer. If the professor had attempted to use the same key to activate a copy of Windows, the activation servers would have denied him access. Some of the technobabble that…

Moolaadé
So, in lieu of doing the tons of work that I have to do in the next two weeks (two radio documentaries, and to finish my book chapter/proposal) — I went with Sarmad, Robert Tuttle and his wife to explore the Arab neighborhood in Astoria. We had lunch at a Lebanese place on Steinway Ave., which was quite good. Following that, we headed down to the African Film Festival currently showing at Lincoln Center, where we saw Moolaadé, the latest…

BenedictXVI.com
Dave Winer is right: For what it’s worth, and seriously, no joke — I don’t think Rogers should give benedictxvi.com to the Vatican. I think the domain should be used for an independently-authored weblog about the policies and actions of the new Pope by someone who is expert in the papacy and independent of the Catholic Church. Agreed. Honestly, I don’t see why the church shouldn’t be taken to task for selectively believing its own theology. As Accordion Guy pointed…

Pics from Fenway
The Sox beat the Devil Rays 3-1 last Sunday. Fenway is easily the greatest ballpark that I’ve ever been to. They really don’t make ’em like this anymore. The atmosphere was, as Martin said, similar to that of a street fair. And it wasn’t even that big of a game (Tampa Bay’s not that good). But there was a sellout crowd of 33,000+ ! (It’s a tiny ballpark.) Enjoy the photos and the one silent movie clip here.
