Back from DC
Back from DC. Stopped for some Koronet. Off to California (I’ve been singing “Hail to California” and the “Cal Drinking Song” to myself today) on Monday! Potentially big news (work-related) to announce coming up. Stay tuned.

Thanksgiving is the biggest teaser holiday
Don’t you think? You get four days — and then a few weeks later you get a much bigger holiday (particularly if you are a college student). We had a full house, with my nuclear (nuke-lee-er) family, my two cousins and my aunt, my Iraqi friend/classmate Sarmad, and two of my aunts friends from California and Massachusetts. Our dinner ended up being a slight deviation from a traditional dinner (we had originally planned to do a turducken, but that was…

I get six days off for Thanksgiving
I didn’t have class Tuesday or Wednesday, and we get Thursday – Sunday off, so it works out well. My parents came back down to NYC on Monday night, and stayed overnight at some hotel in the Village. We met up on Tuesday morning, and while my Dad had a meeting, Mom and I walked from the Village down to Ground Zero. Then we all met up at Penn Station and got on the 2 pm train to Hartford, which…

“At Holocaust Museum, Turning a Number Into a Name”
So after I saw this Times article, I immediately went and had a look at The Central Database of Shoah Victims’ Names. I don’t know anyone personally who was killed in the Holocaust, but I remember my good friend Rachel Rosmarin mentioning that she had some relatives, so I tried her family name. There were 488 results. I clicked the first one, Rivka Rozmarin from Odessa (based on this record): Riva Rozmarin was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1932 to…

News from this side of the Hudson
Acquired an official UN shot glass last weekend. Acquired three new Eddie Izzard DVDs at the signing. MOMA is re-opening this Saturday. Free admission, 10 am – 9 pm. I might go. Also want to check out the Timothy Greenfield-Sanders [NSFW] exhibit and the Alexander Hamilton exhibit. Had coffee/lunch this week with Scott Rafer of Feedster fame and Dave Feldman of Imponderables fame. Might be going to visit Dallas in Cincy for a few days in mid-Dec. Working on two…

Live from SoHo
It’s Friday afternoon. I’m here waiting for my number to come up at the Apple store in SoHo. My iPod is on the fritz, and my iBook crashes when I plug it in. Bad news. Meanwhile the new version of Thunderbird is not totally perfect yet and decided that it wanted to freeze when I would type an email to people. So most of the time here was spent trying to figure out why that was, checking the support forums,…

Congrats to the Red Sox.
So given the attention that my podcasting piece has gotten, with links to my own blog on Scoble’s blog, Paul Boutin’s blog, Dave Winer’s blog and many others, my own blog hasn’t seen ginormous increases in traffic. I’m not looking for amazing traffic numbers, I just figured that this would send my hits through the roof. Maybe it’s still early, but I’m surprised that my post about the Panty Flash to Boing Boing and Fleshbot got me over 7000 unique…
